Am I entitled to copy of my employee file?

I was fired from my previous employer and would like to know if I am entitled to a copy of employee file.

No, that is not required by law in your state. It is up to the employer whether to permit it or not.

You might be allowed to view your employee record, but not necessarily to make copies.

But either way, it's the employer's choice. They are not required by law to allow you to see it, either. Ohio (and, frankly, most other states also) leave the decision up to the employer.

Absolutely no harm in asking.

Have you asked for a copy or to view the file? As the other have said there is not much you can do if they refuse. Good luck.
