I am amending a return for the year 2007 adding my 3 years old niece on top of her mother which was originally my dependent for that year.
I got a request for more paperwork to verify that the kid was living there.
She didn't go to preschool, no doctor visit , no NOTHING. In that year she didn't had anything on her name.
Can they NOT let me have her as a dependent because of the missing papertrail?
Wouldn't be obvious that she would be living with the mother since there's noone else who could have her?
(I had to amend this because at the time the ex boyfriend claimed her with no rights to do so and also he was in prison most of that year)
