If you were truly forced to stay and wait sometimes up to 20 minutes and it wasn't just "de minimus" (say less than a few minutes) as you went out the door, then you need to file a wage claim for unpaid time with the state. Hopefully you recorded this time as it happened.

It also seems discriminatory if only females were subjected to these searches.

I don't know why employers choose to engage in these type of tactics.
