please help! my manager (also my friend) offered me a 24 month lease on 8/1 which I signed - along with 3 other residents that she wrote them for. on 8/5 she called me saying that she quit her job and asked that I take the keys until the owner got here from Canada ( I used ot be a manager). I said yes, and also told the owner that I didnt want the job but I would help until he found someone. 3 days later he had a MGMT co here so I turned everything over to them.
Now, I hear that they are going to file eviction procedings against me, and my manager's son (also a resident) because they just dont want us here.
#1 - the lease is not valid because she is not an agent
#2 - I have paid my rent here for 16 months
#3 - the owner is going to be audited because of moving $$ between the US and Canada (which is why the mgr left)
#4 - they didnt say anything about evicting the other residents on 24 month leases.
They have called me multiple times asking that I submit charges for the 4 days I held the keys to the building so I can be paid for that time - I have not done this because I had no intention of taking the job.
Can they do this? I didnt know it was an invalid contract when I signed it, can that be used against me? They are doing this only because of my friendship with her!
Please help - the owners friend told me they are planning to serve tomorrow!
