Binance has reportedly been hacked as the cryptocurrency exchange issues an update to investors.
In a statement, Binance said: "Our teams are aware of reports of a potential security issue and are actively investigating. At this stage, we have not confirmed any impact to user funds. Our security teams are reviewing all relevant information with urgency, and we will provide updates through official Binance channels as soon as we have verified information. Users should remain cautious of scams and should not trust unofficial links, messages, or requests for account information."
Binance's founder has said losses in the hack might exceed $1billion, but the company "will cover" losses.
According to reports, $2.8billion was withdrawn suddenly from Binance wallets. More than $2 billion in Ethereum (ETH) and tokens left Binance hot wallets on Thursday for an address created hours earlier.
Experts believe this could be the biggest hack in crypto history.
