Can they make me stay?

I work at a dollar store, and one day my shft manager walked out..
well my district manager came in and starting yelling at me, so i was about to leave, but he told me to stay there until the main manager got there,
well when he got there, they made me sign a paper saying that i would stay emplyed there until more people are hired.
is this legal?

He cannot stop you from quitting. However, he can require that you work late and fire you if you refuse.
