I went to Wal-Mart, Changed price tags paid $80 for the stuff I had, got scared and left shopping cart with everything in it in there parking lot when I heard there lp yell excuse me. I'm so scared

What method did you use to pay?
If cash then this will go away.
If credit/debit then there is a way to identify you and police could come knocking.
It does not matter that you left everything behind- you had already completed the criminal act.
If contacted by police do not offer any explanation or statement. Do not even acknowledge that you were there or are aware of what they are talking about. Just tell them you never speak to police without a lawyer present. They will eventually go away.
If you are ever arrested or receive a summons to court then you can worry about actually getting an attorney.

I actually did use my debit card, it was the biggest mistake I have ever mad. I'm so scared to even leave my house but I have to. I have a 13 year old daughter I attend school as well as work. I feel as I should just go to my local police station and surrender so I live normal again.. my anxiety is killing me over this.

If the police want you they know where to find you. You don't even know if it was reported to them.
Stay out of that store for at least a few months. If you are lucky nothing will come of it.

This is great advice, OP.

The part about laying low and remaining silent is brilliant, too.

If I were you, I'd stay away from that store for at least ONE YEAR.
I'd tell you why, but all you need to know is stay away for at least one year, if not 18 months.

I'm going to stay out of the store for ever. Another thing I forgot to mention.. I received a fb friend request this morning, I dont know the person but clicked on where it said it was his son... and his son is the Lp that was yelled excuse me to me...... says he works at Wal-Mart and I could 100% tell it was him. Im thinking they are trying to set me up, so I deleted my fb account. I went from being a happy positive person to being in constant fear. Yes they do have my address there My debit card and I'm sure licence plate number. I'm so extremely scared. And even more regretful

Ignore them. You have nothing to worry about unless police come asking questions... At which time you must forget how to speak.
It seems some time has already passed. The more time passes the less likely you will hear from law enforcement.
Don't live in fear, just be smarter about what you do.

If the police obtain a warrant, the best thing you can do is be polite, stay calm, follow their instructions, and cooperate with the arrest.

The good news is you'll be able to make bail.
If you've got a clean record, ties to the community, you should be able to get bond on your signature to appear, much like a traffic ticket.

The cops will try to trick you into discussing the case.
Whenever they bring up the store, case, charge, simply say, "Sorry, I invoke, I will use my right to remain silent, and I want a lawyer."

It's okay to give name, address, employment, social security number, etc...
Just stop talking if anything about the case is asked.
For example, "By the way, were you near XYZ GROCERY yesterday?"
If that comes up, shut up, and look confused.
When you see the judge, plead not guilty, and ask if you qualify for a public defender.
Again, don't say anything about the INCIDENT.

You can talk to a couple local lawyers about how this plays out in your county.
The initial meeting is about 15-30 minutes, often offered at no charge.
You get to ask questions about how these things are handled.

Whatever you do, don't try to explain it, as you did here (to the cops, the judge, or anyone).

The topic is TABOO for you, talking about it is bad JUJU.

This just happened on Saturday, they obviously know who Iam and my address. I live in subsidized housing, I put so much at risk for being so stupid. I could become homeless over this... I can't eat can't sleep. I just don't know if I'm better off turnning myself I'm, so I concentrate on my school work and concentrate on being a mom. It's eating away at me.

Thank you so very much for taking time to reply to me. I'm going to do some type of good deed to try and feel better ... doubt this will help me.. but it would hurt... some kind of volunteer work, a donation, or helping someone in need....

I am a Retail Theft Consultant and answer questions like yours daily. Let me see if Im right. You switched price tags and paid for items at lower price? Then as you were leaving you panicked and left items in cart in parking lot? If correct then I would not expect anything to happen as they got your $80.00 plus items back. I would suggest you stay out of store for one year though to avoid any problems but if I had to guess (and I am guessing) store (you should not have named) will not report this as they gained from it.

Yes that's what happened.. when I need the lp yell excuse me, I left the shopping cart and to my car and left... as I looked behind me I did see him on his phone. And his father sent me a fb friend request today. This only happened on Saturday

Do NOT accept friend request! Answer no question sin regards to this event unless you first have spoken with a lawyer. However once again the store actually gained from this so I dont see them pursuing a criminal complaint. However again if contact by Police or store answer NO QUESTIONS!
