When contacting the collection agency do everything in writing. Their contact info should be available on your credit report.
If you don't believe the account is yours and does not belong on your credit report, utilize the dispute process through the credit bureau. The collection agency will have to confirm that you are the right person, and that will be hard to do if they don't have the proper info.
That said, if this really is your debt and you are thinking you can sneak away from it because some of the info is wrong, think again. There are many ways that they can still connect it to you.
If after disputing the entry on your credit report they refuse to remove it, add a personal statement to your report that addresses the issue so anyone that checks your credit can see your explanation.
