I have a consent judgment from a divorce from 4/24/01 for a promissory note of $125,000. The judge assigned an attorney as receiver; he never did anything at the time. Is there a statue of limitations or can I pursue this now and try to collect. What can I do?

thank you in advance for your time.

If this is a loan, you may have some options and may not be precluded from the statute of limitations. The law isn't in place to allow people to wriggle out of their debts. It's mostly to protect us against hazy memories of facts and stale cases. There are also many other aspects of this note that may take it out of the realm of standard paper since it's pursuant to a divorce. You want an attorney to take a look at this for collection and determine your options.
