debt collector

I recently recieved a citation from my local county clerk office on yesterday 022508. This document was delivered by a sheriff while i wasn't at home so no one signed for this document. The person that delievered this document left it under my porch mat and they also delievered it to the address not listed on the document.The debt collector is apparently sueing me for a vehicle that was repossed and resold at auction. The debt collector has chosen to set up a status conference through my local county clerk office. I'm just not sure how to go about this issue because the vehicle was a lemon and it needed alot of work and i couldn't afford to pay the car note and for the repairs that was needed.I let them reposess the vehicle and they've always tried to collect the outstanding balance that was left over after the car auction.I'm not sure why they didn't just charge it to my credit.I need to know how to go about this issue.

You borrowed money and you put up a car as collateral.

You let the creditors have your car which was sold for some amount and it was credited to your balance.

Now you must pay the rest of the debt.
