Feb 06 I moved into an appt with a leaking balcony roof. It was raining heavily here then - weeks stright and they said they wouldn't fix it until the rain stops (sometime in the summer). I was also told that there were no compensation for this sort of trouble. Sept. 07 I inquired whether it had been fix and I was rest assured that everything had been done. By that time the appt. complex had new management and we had a new onsite manager. Rains start again about Nov 06 and the roof is still leaking. I was foolish enough not to have submitted anything in writing but they wouldn't even give me their mailing address, saying "talk to the onsite manager" (who's rarely in the office) when I called again not too long ago. Yesterday they started to tear the entire roof off, as it's easier for them to re-roof the whole building rather than to continue to search for the leak. All tenants were notified that it would be noise and dusty and their balcony/patio items may be damaged by gravel, debris, etc. for which management may not be held liable. The note also said in bold that tenants _must_ move their cars from carports by 7:30 a.m. as the the parking area will be cardoned and unavailable during business hours. There is no completion time on this. Yesterday early in the morning when it all started, I woke up choking from poisonous smoke in my apartment acompanied by very loud noise, knocks, etc. I went outside and saw roofers truck taking the whole small passage between our house and the next one, perpendicular to it. Smoke of burning rubber was coming out of it and into my windows (the truck parked right underneath, not even 15 feet away). I called the roofing company yesterday, they promised to do smth and did nothing, then I called again today and they said they wouldn't do anything about it. The roof is getting torn and the balcony is piled with debris. I did take digital pictures of the steaming truck and balcony. What do I do?
