Although it is not illegal to show favortism, isn't there something that can be done about it???

We work in an office of 5 and have a female boss that shows favortism toward her sister, whom creates havoc in the office. Everyone in the office has been written up several time on trivial things, like disagreements among one another, making a mistake, and similar type things. Except for the bosses sister, whom has been there longer then any one else, and has also made mistakes and have taken personal calls on several occassions and have talked about everyone in the office, and have smoked in places that are prohibited, and most recently she actually smacked one of the warehouse workers, which was witness by one of the office workers.

The office worker told him that he should report her, but he was afraid to report it, because the boss is over him and it could make his life a nightmare.
It is horrible.... this is the first time i have ever worked in such and enviroment. Most recently, it was reported to the fire marshalls that they were using a room for smoking purposes. The fire marshals came out and shut the room down. The sister from hell got angry and now they are allow to sneak into the room to smoke.

Since it is not illegal, it is up to the employer whether to do something about it or not. The law is not going to force him to stop unless he is violating the law.

You can continue to report smoking violations to the fire marshall but there is nothing you or anyone else can do to stop the boss from favoring his sister.
