My home owner insurance has been with the same carrier for several years as of 2026 (Aug). It runs from Nov to Nov. Present policy is Nov 2025-Nov 2026.

Event: Nov 29 2025 an on-site personal inspection was done of my single family home. I was not present at the time.
May 22 2026 I receive an email from the person who did the on-site inspection with photos of repairs needed to be completed by Oct 1 2026; approximately 100 days from the May 22 2026 notice to Oct 1 2026.

I contacted my insurance agent and she told me that I should feel lucky that the insurance company gave me 100 days instead of 90 days to make the needed repairs.
Repairs needed:
Cracks in foundation
Cracks in walkway around side of house to rear door (possible trip hazard)
Repair of wooden steps (4 steps)

I asked my insurance agent if I could get an extension on the repair deadline since they waited about 6 months to inform me of these needed repairs. She said no and I should be happy with the 100 days they gave me.

I understand that 90 days is usually the grace period but the on-site inspection was performed in Nov 2025 and they wait until May 2026 to inform me? I wanted to get from the agent the department that I should contact to request the extension and I told her I would be very polite about it. She told me start the repairs and we will send some pictures "in-progress" and see if they give us an extension.

Meantime I have been trying to find someone (a handyman) to do these repairs for me. I am 70 and physically disabled, have a PD license plate and have my auto insurance with the same carrier. I am on a fixed income and can not afford a contractor to do these repairs. I have not once missed or paid late a monthly payment with this carrier.

Do I have any options available. Would requesting an extension due to the 6 month delay in advising me be acceptable of me to pursue?

Thank you very much for your time.
