Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication Mip

I recently got a ticket for CA code 25662(a) minor in possession of alcohol in Sa Diego. I was at a concert in the VIP tent and my friend handed me a plastic cup of beer. I was holding it while talking to friends and decided to put it down on the bench next to me when a police officer grabbed me and asked for my age, and i told her 18. She then gave me the ticket. I have not had any other alcohol related infractions before this. My court date isnt until Oct. 5th and i went in early to see if i couild clear it up but the bailiff told me if i plead guilty i would get my lisence suspended for a year... i have never heard of this harsh a punishment for an MIP. Most people i know have gotten 30 day suspension or classes. Anyone have any idea what the typical punishment is for this in San Diego and under my curcumstances?

Bad things always happen at younger age huh ? Don't you know if you underage for possession of alcohol it doesn't matter it's yours or you don't consume it but it's in your possession . You loose ! So stay away you can look but don't touch . Anyway I found out something for you about California MIP law I hope it's right I'm not sure ok
1st offense: $100 fine or
24-32 hrs of community services
or both depending on the court
I don't think your license will be suspended for 1st offense .

Thanks so much, yea i thought that was the typical punishment. I just dont know if its different from county to county or whatnot. anyways, thank you for the extra relief
