Me and my honey are from north west Washington right on the coast. We happened to run into some legal issues in Kentucky. We were delivering a friends vehicle as a favor.

The officers who harassed us followed us for a long time. we were then pulled over for no reason (except the fact we where from Washington) and my fiancee was screamed at to get out of vehicle with his hang on his gun. he was then detained in the front of the officers vehicle and questioned. AND then they proceeded to "drug dog" us and illegally search our vehicle. They found nothing. I feel like our rights were totally disregarded in every way, The officer was not even from Kentucky, his car said Tennessee.

We had no idea there was no insurance on the vehicle. We have no idea how to find a lawyer here and so far everyone we have ever talked to in this county has been useless and rude, why would I care to pay for their services? We need someone who is passionate about the case. our rights have been so blatantly trampled on by the same law enforcement that is supposed to uphold them.

Now we are stuck in a state we have no familiarity to, in the coldest month out of the year sleeping outside. Please help! There is only three weeks left until the court date.

Your first mistake was in agreeing to deliver a vehicle not belonging to you without confirming the registration and insurance. You absolutely can be held responsible for that.

You find a lawyer by picking up the phone and dialing. They still publish books of yellow pages and libraries have them. Libraries also have computers and research librarians.

But if you are expecting to find representation here (I can't tell if you are or not), you won't. This is not a referral service and reputable attorneys do not troll message boards looking for clients.

Be thankful you're not in Fargo.

Now, I've been in the same insurance situation (when I did live in Fargo, oddly enough - and I now live in WA...). There are generally two issues. Was it a failure to provide, or was it actually no insurance?

If it's the first, it's an easy fix.

If it's the second...well, it's going to be an expensive lesson.

What did your friend say about the insurance matter?

If you do need a lawyer, you can try calling the Ky. Bar Assoc. to see if you can get a referral. cbg gave you other options.
