I am being sued on an old credit card. A company in new jersey obtained a judgment on me without my knowledge. The only way I found out was this week I was served a wage garnish at my company. I called the law firm right away and they notified that I was served through regular and certified mail the summons. It was at an address I lived at 6 years ago. They said because the mail never came back, it was good service. I wrote a letter to the clerk right away objecting to the wage garnish. I then filed a motion the same day to vacate the judgment. In the certification, I enclosed exhibits enclosing my electric bill at my current residence for the past year, copy of a portion of my credit report showing my last three addresses (which neither one were the address they mailed the summons). The house they said they got good service at was a house my sister lived at but sold in 2004. I do not know who lives at that address now. I have always forwarded my mail.
Does anyone have any other advice to help get out of this mess.
thanks
