What happens to an officer who do not show up to an appeals hearing, from a municpal or district court to circuit court, causing the case to deterioate and dimissed?

What happens to an officer who do not show up to an appeals hearing, from a municpal or district court to circuit court, causing the case to deterioate and dimissed?

One side might hate him, one side might love him. His department might be interested to know what he did, if it wasn't approved. He might have had, however, approval not to be there. Perhaps he was ill, or attending to important police business in another court. He likely had a good reason for not being present. Good police officers don't just blow off court appearances.
