Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft petty theft (shoplift) in germany

I am a foreign national working in germany for past
few months. Last week I got caught of stealing a small thing (4 euro). The
shop guy called police and I paid the shop 50 euro fine. The police said
that I wd get notice from court. I am worried what punishment I wd get as per German law. I have heard that German law is pretty strict. Can it lead to deportation ?
Would it help to hire a lawer.

Any ifo would highly appreciated in my bad times.

petty shoplifting charges normally either lead to a dismissal of the charges upon the condition of paying a fine (Einstellung des Verfahrens wegen geringer Schuld unter Auflage nach §153 StPO) or to a written conviction (Strafbefehl) with a fine.

If this is the only criminal record it is highly unlikely that a foreigner will be deported.
