I bought a townhouse that was previously rented. When I bought the house I was told I had to sign an Approved Attorney contract stating that I would pay the previous owner taxes because in WV you pay taxes for the previous year. Before I signed I asked what the taxes normally run and was told around 900 dollars a year. I did some research and found out that my taxes should only be $450. I was told the property was prorated as an unoccupied residence, and that I had to pay the full amount. Also the previous owner gets his taxes back because it's a write-off. I signed a contract, but is there anything I can do.

Yes, honor the contract.

Why?

Because some cheapskates fight over $450 when shelling out $100,000 to buy a home.
