Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft retail theft. Need advice please (1st)

So if I decide to talk to the DA, I would have to go to court and plead not guilty? Not surehow the process goes. Any suggestions?

No you talk to DA work out deal. Then you go to court and Judge either approves or denies deal you made with DA

my first court date will be coming up soon. Do you mean I talk to the DA before court? or Do I plead not guilty at my first court date and then talk to DA after?

Contact the court ask if you will be given chance to talk to DA before court.

If I decide to pay the citation, a conviction will show on my record? Like said before, after consulting with an attorney, the citation I recieved was not a misdemeanor. Does paying it affect me long term in finding a job when I graduate from college? My court date is in 4 days. I don't know what to do now. Just thinking about paying it. Any suggestions would help.
