Hello my son who is 16 was pulled over in his girlfriends car who is 17 she was not drinking but since she did not have her license on her they searched the vechile and found a pipe in the glove box there was no resin in the pipe(never been used) the officer (seven cop cars and 14 cops) were there when i arrived. the officer said they had been at a party and a neighbor called the police due to noise. I was so proud that my son's girlfriend and my son had not been drinking, however the officer drilled them about the pipe and threatned my sons girlfriend if no one claimed it she would be held accountable and loose her licence ect... My son jumped up and claimed it. His ticket says possession of a smoking device--- my question is do i need an attorney-- he has never been in any trouble--could this be misunderstood as any type of smoking device--- the officer did not state this was an unused pipe i live in california
