Are student loans forgiven in cases of undue hardship, the brunner test, or totality of circumstance, with mental health issues in Missouri? If so, what is required/needed to start this process?

You can look into getting a deferment due to hardship. Having the loan erased off the books is unlikely.

Yes. It's actually in regards to my husband. It's a federal loan. He had it on deferral, now PAYE. With little as he makes, and now his diagnosis of mental illness, it's become a whole lot more difficult.

If his mental illness rises to the level of Total Permanent Disability that would qualify for discharge.
