My wife was just fired 1 day after returning from medical leave. How soon does that employer have to pay the 2 days wages that they owe her?

I believe when someone is fired the employer is to pay them what they are due at that time.
That might vary by state though...

It varies by state jurisdiction. Some states require you to be paid at termination. Most allow no more than a business week (5 days).

It does vary by state. In RI, final wages are due on the next regular payday.
