Former Secret Service agents (on Former President Carter's Detail) paint a starkly different picture of President Jimmy Carter's character than the one recently praised by President Joe Biden, author and investigative journalist Ronald Kessler revealed Monday on Newsmax.

In an interview on "Finnerty" discussing his book "The First Family Detail," Kessler claimed that Carter was viewed as "the most detested president in modern times" by many Secret Service agents who protected him.

Kessler's view opposes Biden's recent praise of Carter. Following Carter's death at 100 years old, Biden told reporters that Carter exemplified "decency." Biden remarked when asked what President-elect Donald Trump could learn from Carter's legacy, he responded:

"Decency, decency, decency," Biden said. "Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?"

Kessler dismissed such portrayals as a "total fairy tale" perpetuated by the media. He also drew a parallel to Biden himself, noting reports that Biden allowed his German Shepherds to attack Secret Service agents. "What kind of decent person is that?" he asked.

Kessler cited multiple incidents described by agents to support his belief, contrasting sharply with the public perception of Carter as a paragon of humility and decency.

According to Kessler, Carter would stage photo opportunities to appear relatable but allegedly behaved quite differently once the cameras were off.

"Typically, he would walk around with luggage, pretending he was a member of the common man," Kessler said. "Actually, the luggage was empty. Or, in other cases, he would carry luggage full of clothes in front of cameras, but as soon as they were gone, he'd hand it to aides."

Kessler added that the agents also described Carter as distant and unapproachable.

"He would actually tell Secret Service agents he did not want them to say hello to him on the way to the Oval Office because it was too much bother to say hello back," Kessler said.

One agent who drove Carter for five months and served on his detail for three and a half years said Carter never spoke to him, considering such interactions beneath him.

Kessler alleged Carter's disdain extended to the military. He cited reports that Carter, when visiting his hometown of Plains, Georgia, insisted that the military aide carrying the nuclear football remained at least 10 miles from his residence.

"He hated the military and made derisive comments about them," Kessler said.

He argued that such actions could have jeopardized national security in the event of a nuclear attack, as the delay in accessing the nuclear codes might have left the U.S. vulnerable.

Kessler emphasized that the anecdotes about Carter came from interviews with Secret Service agents, many of whom spoke on the record. These revelations, he said, challenge the narrative of Carter as a universally kind and considerate leader, shedding light on a more complex and controversial legacy.

Interesting how these allegations come out only now, after Carter has died? I'm sensing some political motive here. Carter wasn't an especially great president and I was happy when Reagan won the presidency in 1980 over Carter. But having these allegations come out now, right after the man has died, reeks of opportunism and disrespect. They had over 40 years to tell these stories. Why wait until the very moment the guy dies to come out with them? Perhaps so that Carter wouldn't rebut what they claimed happened? If they were true, why not say anything before he died? As the source of this is Newsmax, an outlet that I regard as not terribly reliable and having a very obvious right wing pro Trump bias I'm very skeptical of the truth of it. The timing was obviously meant to sully the memorials of Carter. It's disgusting behavior, but I've come to expect that kind of thing from Newsmax.

Whatever, Carter was a JOKE. He presided over 20 percent mortgage rates, a gas crisis and not to mention leaving American's stranded in a Helicopter in the middle east. Carter, Biden, OBama, Clinton are historically bad Presidents who made America weaker. Eisenhower warned us about the industrial war complex. Those Presidents along with the Cheney/ Bush crews were amount the deep state swamp rats that Eisenhower warned us about. I hope they all parish off this earth sooner rather than later. The USA would be a safe place for it.

You're basically taking the position that every president since Eisenhower was terrible except, of course, for your Lord and Savior, Donald J. Trump. The thing is, DJT's first term was not notably better than any of the others we've had since 1960. I believe his first term doesn't even qualify to be good enough be called mediocre. I'm hoping he does a much better job this upcoming term but my starting expectations are low. Some of his policy statements and appointments have been bad. That's not a promising start.

As far as the gas crisis goes, that started in 1973, well before Carter was president. So while I think he was overall a pretty ineffective president, in fairness I won't pin that problem on him. That started on Nixon's watch.

The biggest military increase in military expenditure post Eisenhower were, from the data I could find, occurred in G.W. Bush's two terms. Ronald Reagan was the next big military spender. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on your view of what size military we needed at the time compared to the size we actually had at the start of their terms.

To put our current spending into perspective our defense spending today is 50% of the world's total defense spending. In other words we spend as much as all other nations combined. If Trump wants to cut taxes and cut spending to match he ought not make the DoD immune from the budget axe.

Spending aside, military recruitment is a bigger problem, NOT ONLY for Trump and his administration, but for the security of our nation.

Abolishing and dismantling our draft will one day be identified as the beginning of the end for our once great nation. Sadly, I see our country following in the sandal prints of the Roman Empire.

very similar, and granting foreign nationals citizenship for military service is something Rome would know a lot about. This conscription creates individuals loyal to their own country and not the one which they serve.

Allowing foreign nationals to serve in place of US Citizens is stupid. It is also detrimental to the security of our nation. Foreigners only serve to get better pay than they'd receive in their $2.00 a week, 4th world toilet, wannabe nation.

All those yokels want is our money, and the ability to be allowed to live in the USA, as well as bringing in more uneducated, illiterate thugs, criminals, and Kallikaks or Jukes!!!!!

That also includes millions of pedophiles, murderers, thieves, sexual deviants, with their 40 to 60 IQs.

For those uneducated in these things, it's the Juke family. Jute is a plant

It is true that they gene pool that reproduces the most are the least educated and least careful of their fellow man in history. They live their lives as if they are owed something, their goals and proprieties supersede the rest of their countrymen and they know how to work the systems in place to help national citizens. They exploit these resources draining the country dry til it reaches a level of division which is not sustainable. It happens in all complex societies with good intentions.
