Trump to cut taxes on Social Security

You are making up false news yet again trying to scare people and make it seem that DOGE is after their SSA benefits. So, let's set the record straight.

The only part of a person's applications that will not be changeable over the phone is their bank routing number. There are more than 70K calls to SSA of fraudulent attempts to change routing numbers each day. In order to change your routing number, you will have to use your SSA online account and obtain an ID.ME verification account. That might be a burden on some older recipients as getting ID.ME account can be daunting if not computer savvy. Or, you can visit the nearest SSA office.

As far as you saying that many offices have shut down in your state, I don't believe you. Name your state and I will the offices and reason for their shutdown. Maybe some field offices have shut down that are ancillary to SSA functioning like Zoom hearing rooms where SSA is paying exorbitant leases.

There are 1,031 SSA offices nationwide. The projected closures are at 47 nationwide. Of those 47, 26 are closing because of space lease renewals and the operations will be moved to federal space. So maybe 21 field offices may be closed Nationawide.

Here is a list of the ones in the Southern US alone.

Social Security Administration preparing for 'significant workforce reductions

In February, the Social Security Administration released a news release stating that all agency employees have been told to prepare for "significant workforce reductions."

So, don't cry when you SSA is taken away from you SOON. You get what you vote for and I guess we should have all listened. Harris would not have done this, and while about the only policy I agree with Trump on is immigration, it does not offset the terrible work he and his administration has been doing.

See to Trump people in America making $80-150k a year is too much, they must either all be making millions or nothing. The minimum wage of $15 dollars an hour is too much, I bet if you asked Trump to put his hands on $100k - $200k or even $300k, he would look at you as if he had no idea what you are talking about. You see Trump doesn't pay taxes, doesn't have any sense of reality and neither does that South Africian Elon Musk. You were conned like I was and I will never vote for Trump or any of his lackys ever again. The democrats are going to sweep the mid terms and send this buffon off to the sunset where he belongs if he doesn't end up in prison first.

Our United States federal government employs just over 3 million people as of November 2024. This makes it the nation's single largest employer.

BOTTOM LINE, NO GOVERNMENT EVER GENERATES MONEY FOR THE CITIZENRY. TRUTH BE TOLD, GOVERNMENT STEALS/CONFISCATES MONEY FROM THE CITIZENRY.

The federal government produces nothing, unlike Ford Motor Company.

Ford Motor annual/quarterly revenue history and growth rate from 2010 to 2024. Revenue can be defined as the amount of money a company receives from its customers in exchange for the sales of goods or services. Revenue is the top line item on an income statement from which all costs and expenses are subtracted to arrive at net income.

  • Ford Motor revenue for the quarter ending December 31, 2024 was $48.211B, a 4.89% increase year-over-year.
  • Ford Motor revenue for the twelve months ending December 31, 2024 was $184.992B, a 5% increase year-over-year.
  • Ford Motor annual revenue for 2024 was $184.992B, a 5% increase from 2023.
  • Ford Motor annual revenue for 2023 was $176.191B, a 11.47% increase from 2022.
  • Ford Motor annual revenue for 2022 was $158.057B, a 15.93% increase from 2021.
  • IBM total number of employees in 2024 was 293,400, a 3.9% dftecline from 2023.

Question = A person realizes Social Security was designed as a safety net and is not an investment vehicle. However, most advice is to wait as long as possible to start collecting Social Security to increase the "return" or payout.
My most recent Social Security Statement shows how much I have paid over my working career ($122,270) and how much my employers have paid on my behalf ($136,076.)

Worker is 61 and started working in 1972. Just for argument's sake, what if shevwere able to invest that money over the years and picked relatively conservative investments with the majority in stocks or stock mutual funds or ETFs. What would be the estimated value of my investments at age 66 and a couple of months?

Assuming an annual withdrawal percentage of 5% how would that compare to my potential Social Security payment of $2,500 per month?

Assume person lives until age 85. The key advantage person would like to evaluate with this "pretend" scenario is she would get a payout over the years but still have a residual estate instead of nothing as is the case with Social Security. – Joe Franklin
Answer =

It's an interesting question. But before we – with the help of our subject matter expert – answer it, consider this: "It's important to clarify that the answer does not speak at all to the matter of whether it is beneficial to wait on collecting Social Security," says Wade Pfau, a CFA charterholder and professor of retirement income in the Ph.D. program in financial services and retirement planning at the American College in Bryn Mawr, Penn.

"The Social Security delay factors assume your investments will earn an inflation-adjusted return of 2.9% if you live to your life expectancy. Given that the yield on 30-year TIPS is about 0.9% now, that is really attractive. You'd have to take a lot of risk to end off better."

Pfau says, Social Security provides inflation-adjusted income for as long as you and your survivors live. "It protects from inflation, market volatility, and longevity," he says. "That is a really valuable benefit."

Yes, if someone ends up dying early in retirement, they would be better off claiming early. "But it doesn't really matter anyway in these cases," says Pfau. "The real value comes from the protection in cases where someone's retirement lasts for a long time. So the 62 vs. 70 decision is an independent issue from whether or not the Social Security system should exist in the first place."

Now, as for your question on the investment prospects of participating in Social Security, Pfau says the Social Security Administration has produced a series of interesting studies on the topic of money's worth measures.

Nice take there AJ, you were one of those government employees so maybe and I am going on a limb here, would say that you would not appreciate the downsizing of yourself would you?

I mean you had your time, made your dime, now you want to ensure others won't be able to do what you did. I have a feeling if you were still in the military or still making a federal paycheck which you depended on then you would not be happy with this either.

You're wrong, mate.

I never depend on anyone but myself to take care of me and mine. If I had ever felt abused, mistreated, or pushed aside; I'd never whine. I'd just pick myself up, and as the crooner, Frank Sinatra sang, "I'd pick myself up, dust myself off, and get back in the race."

I don't whine.
I don't beg.
I figure it out, and just keep on keeping on.

Not a damn thing is owed to me, promised to me, I've made my own place on this big, blue, beautiful marble upon which we reside.

I live and let live, until my space is invaded, or one of my bloodline is harmed. Then the one I suppress, the on trained to kill Commies and Revolutionaries comes out, to take care of his own.

Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush baby, Bush daddy, who cares? I don't need someone to tell me what works for me, or what's good for me.

As I said, the only thing promised to me is that one day, my "use by date" arrives, and my life candle is extinguished. Until that day arrives, I'll just keep on pushing and living.

Unlike the grasshopper, I've followed the philosophy of the ants, putting something away for the winter, rather than partying all summer long!

You really are delusional. You should go work for one of the networks.

Sure you don't, well then if you are that well off why not let the government have your pension, military benefits, and GI expenses back. They could just hold your SS checks until that amount is paid back. You say you don't need the government but I would beg to differ. You had no problem in using the GI Bill to pay for your educational expenses. What kind of judge would you have been without the Army? Sure you could have been a civilian judge but that is paid through the state level. You would have had to compete with a bunch of average lawyers for spots that being just an average lawyer doesn't cut it. You would have to win a popularity contest against other lawyers looking for their piece of the pie.

Tons of lawyers out there and more graduate every year.I imagine without the government paying you for your duties, expenses, and educational level then you would not have much in the way of the retirement packages you enjoy now. I would say the exact opposite of what you posted is true. However, I could be wrong you seem to have an answer and a way around any situation you have become involved in.

Trump is an infantile idiot who doesn't know what direction he wants to go in next, much like a dictator his whims and policy change with the direction of the wind.

Yes, I'm well off because I worked my tail off to found, build, grow; an profitable, outstanding law firm. By the way, my daughter now leads that law firm. It employs 50 odd attorneys, 25 paralegals, and dozens of support personnel. I earned what I possess. I didn't beg it, or steal it.

How much of your SS, pension, wages are you GIVING BACK, hero?

I served 35 years on active duty in our Army. I gave 5 years of my life and service during the Vietnam War. During my military career, I received three Bronze Stars, four Silver Stars, two Distinguished Service Crosses. Again, EARNED is the operative word, not WHINED, WINCED, BEGGED, PLEADED, but EARNED!!!!

By the way, hero, how many years during war time did you serve in our nation's military?

I earned every dollar of the pensions/annuities I receive.

I'm not going to give a penny back from something I earned with blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice.

So, I see it is a different world when the shoe is on the other foot. Honestly that is impressive, but others have served and done just as much and not received their dues for it. I do not think SS will exist when I am around to draw it and collect it. If Trump doesn't try to appoint himself KING of the United States then I would be highly surprised.

The America you served your country in and obtained your possessions with is no more. America has become an LLC with the concept of an American dream being sold to a new class of immigrates to come in and pursue, but with no actual ability or method to claim it. I do not know if you have noticed but everyone is out for themselves, lives way beyond their means in some cases, and have no duty of care when it comes to America's laws or rules for their fellow countrymen. Declare bankruptcy, no problem, put all your assets in someone else's name and then be a big ole piece of garbage- check.

It was Eisenhower who warned about the Industrial War complex and its repercussions. I do not think America as a country is sustainable and will eventually fail like the Roman Empire. I just did not think it would be in my life time; however 9-11 was the beginning of the end for America.

I have earned everything I have ever worked for in my life, and have brought in several multi 9 figure projects so I am good. I do not, and have not received my money from the government for any reason. I also told Bill Gate's representatives to pound sand when they came in and tried to purchase many acres of my families Centennial Farm. Many farms will fail under what Trump is doing with freezing loans and limiting grant funding. Ever wonder why the billionaires want to control farm land? Gates does so under the banner of Cottonwood Farm Management. They want to control you so regardless of what you have obtained or how much you have done. It doesn't matter to them because the billionaire class doesn't care they could buy me and you 100s or even 1000s over and never blink an eye.

The America you served your country in and obtained your possessions with is no more.

I've known that, personally observed the changes for at least three decades.

Frankly, at my age, I don't care. My use by date is coming, sooner, rather than later.

If you think our country can't become any worse, hold on, you'll see!!!!!

You are so full of sh*t it's coming out of your ears. You're a 50 something year old snot trolling the internet and posting at all hours of the day. I wonder if you even have a job or you're living off someone else like maybe daddy. All one has to do is go back and read some of your more ridicules early posts about your personal life and the questions you asked and your lack of knowledge in the subject you are asking about.

I'm with the Judge. I wouldn't give back one penny of benefits from SS or any pensions because they are contracts with the government, and I hold them to the terms. Any person that has worked for a living would feel the same way.

Next thing you know, you'll be headed to the White House.

Nothing in your post is accurate, but believe what you want. How did you become the moderator of this forum?

This is an anonymous forum and dispels legal advice, but since I hit a nerve discussing your Supreme Leader, I will leave you with this. Why is it the lowest common denominator those with the least amount blindly support this guy?

Oh and I have won ever case I have had before a court of law so while I do not possess a law degree. I have been around the courts enough and read enough case law to know what I am doing through the process.

Oh and they are not contracts with the government and annuallized or net projected out for revenue over a 8-10 year period then yes they are 9+ figure projects.

It is mommies money actually, so you are a little bit right but I have never fully calculated the overall NET.

You did not sign a contract with the government saying it would pay you retirement so you are a little wrong. No one is taking away your entitlement yet but Trump may look for ways to end SS. I do expect it.

I originally joined to learn about the legal processes, it is all good as I have picked the legal arguments from various cases of being sued and having sued various entities and persons. I am a consultant and can guarantee you that many of the projects I have worked on have or will net way over the figures I threw out. Again you can believe what you want.
