He's made a better AG than I suspect Gaetz would be. Trump shouldn't be trying for a race to the bottom (as some reports suggest he is intentionally doing with the Gaetz nomination) but rather looking to elevate the best and brightest for these important positions. I don't very many would truthfully say Gaetz fits into the the category of our best and brightest, or that he even comes close to it. Trump wouldn't have to look far to find someone better for the job than Gaetz.

If there wasn't the evidence then they should never pursued it in the first place. If they did that, the proper response is do the same thing back. If what the other side did was wrong, committing the same wrong back to get vengence is also wrong. That's the rationale behind the long standing truth that "two wrongs do not make a right." Trump and his team accomplish nothing for the public by wasting time and public resources pursuing petty revenge. Trump will come out much better if he can rise above that kind of nonesense and instead ensure that the DOJ does the job it is supposed to do rather than being political hitmen for him. I have my doubts that Trump can do that, but I'll applaud him if he actually comes through and decides to focus on governing the country fairly and not occupy himself pursuing individuals he thinks have slighted him. Sure, people get some measure of delight thinking about pursuing revenge, but the good ones get past that and move on to better things. Can Trump do that? I'll know for sure four years from now when I can review what he actually did while in office.

John Luman Smith AKA "Jack Smith" (born June 5, 1969) alleges he's an American attorney who has served in the United States Department of Justice as an assistant U.S. attorney, acting U.S. attorney, and head of the department's Public Integrity Section.

He was also the chief persecutor at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, an international tribunal at The Hague tasked with investigating and prosecuting war crimes in the Kosovo War.

In November 2022, attorney general Merrick Garland appointed Smith an independent special counsel, responsible for overseeing two preexisting Justice Department criminal investigations into former president Donald Trump, three days after Trump announced his 2024 presidential campaign: one regarding Trump's role in the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack, and the other into alleged mishandling of government records, including classified documents. The documents case resulted in a 37-count indictment of Trump in June 2023 to which three counts were later added in July.[2] In August, the January 6 case resulted in an indictment on four charges.[3]

The classified documents case was dismissed by judge Aileen Cannon in July 2024, on the grounds that Smith was unlawfully appointed as special counsel.[2] Smith's office announced that he will be appealing the decision.

Well, as a lawyer, you should be concerned about what cases that were brought against Trump and how the laws were used in novel interpretations (never before in US jurisprudence). But since you admitted in a previous post that you only get your information from the media and not the court filings, how could possibly know the facts?

The NY real estate fraud case will be dismissed by the Court of Appeals as there is no victim, it was a contract between two equally positioned business, the contract was completed, and James had no authority to bring suit in the first place.

The two Jack Smith cases are DOA.

The Georgia case is also DOA and oral argument are set for 12/5/2024 to remove Willis from the case.
