Not a spy just a spammer or scammer. Its called spoofing where they change the caller ID info to make you think you may know the person and increase the likelihood that you will answer the call.It didn't matter what phone service I had used. This older guy with a Indian accent would call me out of the blue saying " did you call me?" Was weird. His area code was same as mine and had similar digits to my number Wonder if dude is a spy? Lol
Alternatively, he was returning a spoofed call. Almost any time I get a phone call from the same area-code/exchange as mine and it's not someone I know, it's going to be spam. Oddly, the scammers have moved on from that since people have caught on (and due to the portability of cell phone numbers there's no geographic or social commonality to similar phone numbers).
